Bob Klein
Director – Snowboarding
Bob Klein is one of the founding fathers of snowboarding. With more than 30 years of snowboarding experience – rider, instructor, retail owner, brand management, and agent – Klein is a genuine throwback to the original days of “shredding” when he first began riding using old skateboards and a plastic Coleco board. His career can be best summarized by a series of firsts: one of the first pro riders, one of the first pro instructors, and one of the first architects of the halfpipe in the world. From opening one of the sport’s first retail shops to leading sales efforts for many of the early endemic brands, Klein has helped carve snowboarding’s growth to where it is today.
Klein’s first-hand knowledge of the snowboard culture allows him to truly appreciate action sports athletes need for maintaining their image while also capitalizing on their mainstream appeal. Over the course of his career, Klein has negotiated more than $20 million in sponsorships on behalf of his clients including orchestrating the career of the industry’s first icon, Shaun Palmer. Through it all, Klein has touched every aspect of the snowboarding industry and has been instrumental in its rise from a “fad” to one of the leading action sport disciplines in the world today.
Klein, who is based in Reno, Nevada, created snowboarding specialty firm BK Sports in 2001 before merging his business with Octagon. Prior to his agency work, Klein co-founded Palmer Snowboards and opened Sessions Snowboard Shop.
